PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Family and friends gathered Saturday night for a candlelight vigil to honor the life of one of the victims in a deadly crime spree.
Police say Andreas Olguin was shot 11 times near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road on Nov. 29.
While the world moves fast, Olguin’s mother says she remains frozen.
“Everything is going fast, and I’m just standing in time,” said Toni Perez. She stood surrounded by candlelight Saturday night, honoring the life of her son.
His photo sat on the ground, surrounded by flickering light and flowers — a final gift, a final goodbye.
“I can’t believe you’re gone, bubby. I can’t believe you’re gone, bubby,” Perez said.
Last weekend, Olguin was shot and killed by a stranger at the very spot where loved ones gathered to honor his memory. Each candle and item placed below the bus stop represented countless memories shared by those who knew him.
“You know, he’s got a lot of friends and he also loved cars. So, you know, when he was 16, we got him a 19. What was that? 70 Chevy Impala,” Perez said.
Perez says tonight is a reminder of how quickly life can change.
“I want justice for my son, and I want justice for Marcus Adams that died on 19th and Greenway as well.”
New court documents show 21-year-old Adalberto Pablo Cordova Torres is under arrest and charged with murder in the deadly shooting. Police say shell casings and surveillance video connected him to Olguin’s killing and two other shootings, including another homicide.
He is currently in custody on a $3 million bond.
