TOWN OF CORTLANDT, NY — The New York State Police said today that troopers arrested one of their own.
On Thursday, at 8:07 p.m., troopers responded to Hudson Valley Hospital after receiving a report of a hit-and-run collision that took place in the area of East Main Street, in the town of Cortlandt.
An investigation found that a 2017 Chevrolet sedan struck the back of a vehicle that was stopped at a red light, and then fled the scene, according to NYSP. A witness told police that the vehicle continued south toward Crompond Road before parking in the Hudson Valley Hospital parking lot.
Troopers identified the driver of the suspect vehicle as 51-year-old Richard A. Miller, of Putnam Valley, a New York State Police Investigator assigned to Troop NYC.
State police say that the troopers noticed signs of of intoxication, and Miller was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. He was then taken to State Police Cortlandt for processing.
Miller was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Cortlandt Court on January 5, and was released to a third party.
State police say there were no injuries as a result of the crash, and that the investigation is ongoing.
