New York Attorney General Letitia James is reminding current and former DoorDash delivery workers that they have until December 31, 2025, to file claims for restitution from a $16.75 million settlement secured earlier this year.
The settlement followed an investigation by the Attorney General’s Office that found DoorDash misled customers and delivery workers — known as Dashers — by using customer tips to subsidize guaranteed pay rather than adding the tips on top of base earnings. Eligible Dashers who made deliveries in New York between May 2017 and September 2019 may receive compensation. Claim notices were sent by the settlement administrator, Atticus Administration, via mail, email, or text.
As of December 3, more than 30,000 of the roughly 63,000 eligible workers have submitted claims. In addition to financial restitution, the settlement requires DoorDash to overhaul its payment practices, increase transparency for customers and Dashers, and improve access to order histories.
The Attorney General’s investigation found that DoorDash’s pay model, used between 2017 and 2019, gave customers the impression that tips went directly to Dashers. Instead, those tips were used by the company to offset its guaranteed-pay obligations.
Eligible workers can submit claims online and may contact Atticus Administration at 1-800-270-1039 or [email protected] for assistance.
