meteorologist warns of soggy Sunday and Jaguars game

Wet weather rolling into Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Hi everyone, this is News4JAX’s meteorologist Katie Garner. I want to make sure you’re ready for what’s coming today because it’s shaping up to be a wet one across Jacksonville.

Right now, we’re already seeing rain over the stadium, and heavier showers are expected to move in as the day goes on. If you’re anywhere near the Deerwood Club, the town center, the Jag stadium, or on the south side, you’ll want your umbrella close.

Our Exact Track 4D radar is lighting up with plenty of green and yellow, showing lots of moisture pushing through. The heaviest stuff is coming in from the west, heading into Jacksonville before it makes its way to the coast. The Gulf moisture is adding to the wet weather, and I’m watching it all closely for you.

Dense fog complicates morning hours

I’m also seeing some dense fog out there this morning, which is combining with the rain to make driving conditions pretty nasty in a few spots. Some areas are seeing visibility as low as half a mile or less, so if you have to be out early, take it slow and keep those headlights on.

The fog, along with the rain, means you’ll want to plan ahead for your morning commute or any errands.

Jaguars game day: bring rain gear

For anyone heading to the Jaguars game, be prepared for a soggy Sunday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m., and it’s expected to be around 64 degrees, with showers very likely during the game window.

I highly recommend taking a raincoat with you—you’ll be glad you did. Our forecast models show a 50 to 70 percent chance of rain in Jacksonville and near the stadium around gametime.

If you’re out at the game or dealing with the weather around town, don’t forget that you can share your photos and updates with us at SnapJAX. We love seeing your view!

Looking ahead

While the rain and fog are expected to move out eventually, we’ll keep you updated right here at News4JAX, The Weather Authority. Stay tuned for the latest on Exact Track 4D as we watch the skies and keep you ahead of any changes.
