A Fort Worth boot shop has landed on a New York Times list of the top 50 clothing stores in the United States.
M. L. Leddy’s in the Stockyards was praised by The Times for boots “in leathers ranging from calf to alligator.
“Available in myriad colors, there are pairs for everyone, including baby boots that fit in the palm of a hand.”
The store is one of two in Texas, with the other in San Angelo, where its custom boots are made. The company was started by its namesake in 1922.

Leddy’s reacted to being chosen for the list by sending a “heartfelt Texas thank you” to The Times in a Facebook post.
Elsewhere in Texas, Houston’s Mr. Larkin also made the list. The store is an outpost of a “beloved” Danish boutique and offers a selection of “loose feminine clothing and punchy accessories,” The Times wrote. The list focused on “distinctive and inspirational” stores, most of which are independent small businesses.
Absent were any shops in Dallas, which is home to the cultural staple Neiman Marcus and to vintage stores such as the celebrity hot spot Dolly Python.
