Donna, NO!

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

With Melissa McCarthy‘s first Saturday Night Live episode in eight years officially on the books, we can confirm she introduced a couple more of the weirdo characters she does so, SO well on December 6. Move over, pizza business entrepreneur Barb Kelner: UPS driver Donna Fonda is coming for your crown.

In “UPS Delivery Driver,” two UPS human resources staffers (cast members Mikey Day and Ashley Padilla) invite a driver named Donna to chat about a customer complaint they’ve received.

“No that’s impossible, but y’all take care,” Donna tells them, turning to take off. Unfortunately for her, the customer provided receipts in the form of (ample) doorbell camera footage, and the evidence is damning.

Melissa McCarthy nearly made Mikey Day break in SNL’s “UPS Delivery Driver”

After taking a spill with an armful of packages, Donna curses “Stupid rich people and your pavers!” and proceeds to whip their packages onto the porch with real athleticism.

When HR asks Donna to explain, she says, “I’ll be honest: I was about to use my old standby trick and pretend to faint, but, I’m going to own my mistake.” She tries to “y’all take care” them again, but there’s more footage. We see McCarthy pull a “people’s elbow!” wrestling move on a box before finding inventive ways to ruin a cashmere sweater.

Now it’s time for Donna to pull her signature move, but the HR reps were warned. “Donna, you’re pushing yourself out the door,” Padilla’s character protests, as McCarthy shuffles her limp body out the door with one foot.

“What are you doing, Donna?! If you fainted, how can you do that, Donna?” Day’s character scolds as it seems for a second like she might roll off.

“I un-fainted,” she tries, after coming back — only to witness her own carnage as doorbell cam video shows her spreading garbage and plant debris all over the same customer’s porch. “And you put a live bat in their house, Donna!” they tell her, as she insists it was in fact a rescue.

When another video reveals she stayed on the porch until it got dark out, Donna requests the customer’s sworn statement, and immediately shoves it in her mouth. What ensues is a hysterical physical altercation between Day and McCarthy, with Day trying not to laugh at one point while prying the paper out of her mouth like she’s a dog who picked up a chicken bone on a walk.

Fired after giving the company “the best 17 days of my life,” we learn that this has been an ad for a shipping service that welcomes her as a worker. Be sure to ship those presents extra early this year!

“UPS Delivery Driver” wasn’t McCarthy’s sole new entry in her expanding SNL weirdo-verse. Her meddling neighbor in “A Helping Hand” is scary-funny, while she sparked a strange romance opposite new cast member Jeremy Culhane in “Free Sample.” Watch all of Melissa McCarthy’s December 6 SNL sketches here, and stream all 51 seasons of Saturday Night Live on Peacock anytime.
