
The Republic analyzes the Cardinals’ loss to the Buccaneers

The Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals played on Sunday, Dec. 7, at State Farm Stadium in a game on the NFL Week 14 schedule. Look back at our live updates from the game.
The Arizona Cardinals led the Rams on Dec. 7, but it was short-lived.
Los Angeles pulled away for a 45-17 victory at State Farm Stadium as the Cardinals lost their fifth straight game. The 45 points are the most the Cardinals have allowed in a game this season.
The Cardinals led 7-0 and later 7-3, but the Rams took over from there. At one point, LA scored on five consecutive possessions. The Rams outscored the Cardinals 35-0 after the teams were tied at 10 before Arizona added a late TD to break the streak.
The Rams had 530 yards of offense compared to Arizona’s 263.
Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett was 25-for-44 passing for 271 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Arizona’s ground game was nearly non-existent. Brissett led the group with four carries for 22 yards. Bam Knight had seven carries for 16 yards.
Michael Wilson had 11 catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 16 targets. Trey McBride extended his streak of games with at least five catches with his five receptions for 58 yards.
Matthew Stafford was 22-for-31 for 281 yards and three touchdowns. Puka Nacua continued to catch passes at a record pace. He grabbed seven for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Blake Corum and Kyren Williams split the carries. Corum finished with 12 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Williams had 13 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown.
The Cardinals (3-10) play at the Texans on Dec. 14.

Michael Wilson caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to snap the Rams’ run of 35 straight points.
The Cardinals had not scored since a field goal midway through the second quarter.
Wilson has nine catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns on 13 targets. Brissett is 21-for-35 for 218 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He’s been sacked three times.

Blake Corum took a first-down handoff and ran 48 yards for a touchdown.
The score came on the Rams’ first offensive play since Puka Nacua caught a touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford.
Corum has 12 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

QB Jacoby Brissett threw one pass, and it was intercepted by Nate Landman, while the intended receiver, Michael Wilson, waited with open arms.
On the next play, Matthew Staff threw one pass, and it was caught by Puka Nacua for a 31-yard touchdown.
Those plays sum up the day for the Cardinals as LA has scored 28 unanswered points.

After opening their scoring with a field goal, the Rams have now scored touchdowns on the four following possessions.
Stafford is 19-for-25 for 233 yards and two touchdowns after completing a TD pass to Colby Parkinson. It was the receiver’s second reception of the game.

Puka Nacua continues catching passes at an NFL-record pace.
The latest was a 28-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford. Against the Cardinals on Dec. 7, Nacua has six catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.
Stafford is 14-for-18 for 197 yards.
The Rams have scored on each of their four first-half possessions. They have 306 yards of total offense. They have faced just one third down.
Arizona attempted a 63-yard field goal as time expired, but the wide was wide right.

Kyren Williams was the featured back as the Rams scored on their third possession.
The Rams have scored on each of their possessions and have only faced one third down. They have 209 yards of offense for an average of 8.4 yards per play.
Williams has seven carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. He’s split time with Blake Corum, who has six carries for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Chad Ryland kicked a 38-yard field goal to end what began as a promising drive for the Cardinals.
QB Jacoby Brissett completed four passes to Michael Wilson on the drive.
Wilson has five catches for 66 yards and a touchdown in the game. He had caught all five of his targets. Brissett is 11-for-14 for 139 yards. He’s been sacked twice.

In the first quarter, the Cardinals were penalized twice for 15 yards. It might not seem like a lot, but both penalties put the Cardinals in tough third-down situations.
In the first quarter, the Cardinals were 0-1 on third down. They had four first downs and averaged 8 yards per play.
The Cardinals begin the second quarter with a third-and-5 from their own 23.

Blake Corum doubled his run total for the day and added a touchdown on the Rams’ second possession.
The running back now has six carries for 48 yards and the touchdown.
On the 76-yard, six-play drive, QB Matthew Stafford completed two passes to Puka Nacua for 50 yards.

Matthew Stafford was just 1-for-4 on the Rams’ first series, but the running game made up for it. Kyren Williams and Blake Corum had a combined five carries for 53 yards as the Rams put themselves in scoring position.
Harrison Mevis kicked the 26-yard field goal.

Jacoby Brissett completed a 19-yard pass to Michael Wilson to give the Cardinals a lead less than 3 minutes into their game against the LA Rams.
Brissett was 3-for-3 on the 67-yard drive. Trey McBride caught the other two receptions for a combined 45 yards.

Johnson arrived at the Dec. 7 game wearing an Indiana football jersey. Johnson played at Ohio State, which lost the 2025 Big Ten championship game to Indiana on Dec. 6.
