SAN ANTONIO – An argument between brothers boiled over, leaving one woman dead and one brother severely injured.

Around 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, police were called to the scene of a shooting in progress on the Northwest Side on Gazel Drive near Vance Jackson and I-10.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the suspect, the suspect’s wife, the victim, and the victim’s girlfriend were all in the backyard of a home when an argument broke out. The suspect and victim, who are both brothers in their mid-to-late twenties, have a history of domestic disputes.

The suspect allegedly told responding officers that during the argument, he saw the victim reaching for something, prompting him to pull out a gun and shoot his brother and his brother’s girlfriend multiple times.

San Antonio Police confirmed that the victim’s girlfriend did not survive the shooting and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There has been a history of domestic violence – in the back – in regards to drugs. Right now, we don’t know if drugs were involved. We don’t know if alcohol was involved,” said Sharavious Jackson from the San Antonio Police Department. “The ages were mid to late 20s, so they’re pretty, relatively young, and all Hispanic.”

The surviving brother was taken to the hospital with significant injuries. The suspect has been taken into custody.

“I can tell you that the brother, the suspect, he will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, including murder as well,” explained Jackson. “These charges, they could they could go a little bit higher, depending on how this investigation comes out.”

Police also said that upon arrival, officers were charged by a pit bull at the scene while entering the backyard. Officers opened fire, killing the dog.
