Nicole Lynn Allenbaugh, 32, of Piqua, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Kettering Health Center in Kettering, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 28, 1993, in Greenville, Ohio, to Michael T. and Connie A. (Houshel) Apple.
Nicole graduated from Covington High School and the Upper Valley JVS in 2012, where she studied Environmental Occupations. Her early years were spent working on her family’s dairy farm. It was there she learned dedication, patience, and the importance of helping the people she loved. She later worked at the Miami County Park District and Home Depot, but she truly found her place at A.M. Leonard, where she worked for ten years. The coworkers she met there became close friends and an important part of her everyday life.
On June 14, 2014, she married Eric Allenbaugh. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and the everyday moments Nicole treasured most. Nothing meant more to her than Eric and their two children, Madeline “Maddie” and Mitchell. They were the joy of her life.
Nicole loved being in nature, and some of her favorite memories were made while teaching her children how to fish, swim, and enjoy the simple beauty of being outside. She loved being by Eric’s side on the farm. Whether she was in the fields finding cool rocks with the kids, running a grain cart, or helping operate equipment, she took pride in being part of the work they did together. Nicole had a quiet strength and a gentle way of caring for others. She did not seek attention, but she made an impact through her kindness, her hard work, and her deep love for her family and friends.
Nicole is survived by her husband, Eric, and their two children, Madeline “Maddie” and Mitchell Allenbaugh. Other survivors include her paternal grandmother, Wanda F. (Huff) Apple; her maternal grandparents, John and Sandra (Link) Houshel; and her sisters, Kylie (Brandon) Bitzow, Jessica (Cameron Stittums) Apple, and Kristina (Michael Baker) Apple. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Amaya, Jayla, Kaiser, Hank, Lillian, Elijah, Gavin, and Gunner; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, and friends, all of whom she loved deeply. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Nelson N. Apple; great grandparents, Henry W. and Ina P. Apple; maternal great grandparents Edward and Helen Link; nephew Abel Yingst; and a cousin Courtney McClelland.
A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Christine Mertz officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
