Charles Hosch went missing in northeast Georgia on November 11. Family and friends announced a “major search weekend” for December 13 and 14.
The family of a missing SMU professor say they’re launching a major search weekend in Georgia to try and locate the beloved father, grandfather and husband.
Charles Hosch went missing during a hike along the Byron Herbert Reece Trail in northeast Georgia nearly four weeks ago, about 90 miles north of Atlanta.
Julia Hosch Singh said the daily search for her father will increase this weekend with a planned volunteer search that will represent their largest coordinated effort yet.
“We love him very, very much and are going to do every single thing we possibly can so that we get to bring him home,” Hosch Singh said. “We’re going to have a lot of work to do.”
Local first responders from Union County, Georgia, coordinated an extensive search around Blood Mountain in the first two weeks after his disappearance.
Family and friends of Charles Hosch launched the Bring Charles Home website on November 25 to continue providing updates on the volunteer-led search, which has included deployment of canines and drones.
Hosch Singh said she has no choice but to remain hopeful amid the outpouring of support from people who know her father in Texas and Georgia, and the countless prayers she says her family receives daily.
“I recognize that statistically, there is a low possibility of finding him alive and well,” Hosch Singh said. “But it’s not impossible. And so we’re going to keep looking.”
“Bringing dad home is really important to us. Making sure that if there is any chance in the world that he is still very much with us and just would like to be home, we are going to do our best to figure it out. And this next weekend is our best chance of doing that.”
Hosch was last seen wearing khaki pants, camel color sweater and a dark green jacket.
