Firefighters found a woman’s body in a room after battling a heavy fire at a one-story home in Northwest Dallas on Saturday, according to a news release from Dallas Fire-Rescue.

At about 1:38 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to a 911 call for a structure fire at a home located at 3005 Sundial Dr., the release said.

First responders arrived at the home and reported heavy fire coming from the front of the home, according to authorities.

Firefighters deployed hand lines and battled the fire to bring it under control, and after the fire was extinguished, they found a woman’s unresponsive body lying on the floor in a room, the release said.

The woman, who was not identified, was pronounced dead.

The fire department said they declared an “out taps” shortly after 2:50 p.m., but first responders stayed on scene until the medical examiner arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the fire department said.
