Is this December? Mild weather week ahead for Phoenix

  • December 8, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Ready for a repeat? The quiet weather we had through last weekend will continue through next weekend.

The only real difference is that we’ll warm up a bit and have a shot of hitting 80 degrees later this week. While that would likely not be a record, temperatures in the 70s for the second week of December are well above normal.

It will be a bit breezy at times on Monday afternoon and this evening as a weak storm system passes by Arizona.

Getting to 80 in Phoenix in December and January is unusual, but not super rare. It seems to average about once a year.

In the past 20 years, Phoenix has recorded 34 highs in the 80s during these cold months. In the 20 years before that, 1985 to 2004, we only had 21 days with highs of 80 or more in December/January.

But don’t call that a trend just yet. In the 20-year period before that, 1965 to 1984, we had 31 days with 80 degrees or more in our coldest month.
