Police in Fort Worth said late Monday that they are investigating the gunshot deaths of a man and woman who appear to have died during a murder-suicide.

Investigators said in a written statement that the bodies of the man and woman, who were romantically involved, were found in an apartment complex located at 5700 Remington Circle.

Officials did not immediately identify the pair, saying the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office would confirm how the two died as well as their identities.

Police were asked to perform a welfare check after the woman’s employer said she did not show up to work Monday, the statement said. The employer told police they called for assistance after her co-workers were unable to reach her despite multiple tries.

The Fort Worth officers forced their way inside the apartment and found the bodies of the man and woman in the living room, police said. Both were pronounced dead inside the residence.

According to police, investigators are trying to determine what led up to the gunfire. Authorities said the two were romantically involved but did not elaborate on how long they had been in a relationship.

“All indications suggest this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the police statement said.
