PHILADELPHIA — A woman has been charged with assault and more crimes after Philadelphia Police said she admitted to stabbing a man early Tuesday.
The stabbing happened at about 12:06 a.m. Tuesday at a residence on the 100 block of South Ruby Street.
Police were called there for a report of a stabbing, and they found a man suffering from a stab wound to his chest in the property’s second floor. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.
A 44-year-old female witness, who sustained a cut to her hand, was also transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment, police said.
A woman identified as Nyeemia Maxey, 39, was found on the first floor of the residence. She told police she stabbed the man and was subsequently taken into custody, then brought to Jefferson Hospital for treatment of a neck injury.
One knife with apparent blood stains was recovered at the scene.
Maxey was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and related crimes, police said.
