Josh O’Connor is handing out puppies.
The Wake Up Dead Man star, who’s hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, tries to spread a little cheer in the first promo spot for his hosting gig by gifting Sarah Sherman and Jeremy Culhane adorable puppies.
The smiling O’Connor seems to be just a well-meaning animal lover — after all he’s wearing a sweater emblazoned with nuzzling penguins.
“Are they at least house broken?” asks Sherman, before her puppy demonstrates the answer is “No.”
A clearly-nervous Culhane ventures, “So we have to, like, take care of it?”
Replies O’Connor, “Just for like 11 or 12 years and then you have the saddest day of your life.”
If it all seems a bit much, puppies are nothing compared to Melissa McCarthy’s gift to the cast last week. Watch and see.
O’Connor, who stars in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, is making his SNL debut. He will be joined by musical guest Lily Allen, who just released her fifth album, West End Girl.
