Man breaks into daycare center to grab child

LOS ANGELES – Parents are on high alert after a man broke into a daycare center through a window and allegedly took his 4-year-old child.

There was no restraining order against him, but the mother asked the daycare center to not let him take their daughter because he was acting irrationally.

What we know:

Video shows a man breaking through a window of a Lawndale daycare center. Once inside, he encountered a caretaker and demanded to take his 4-year-old daughter. Staff at Little Ones Academy refused, because the girl’s mother had warned them he was unstable.

Officials with the LA County Sheriff’s Office told FOX 11 off camera that they advised the mother to immediately get a restraining custody order from a judge. The order was then filed that same day.

LAPD officers then visited the father at the home where he had the child, but according to their notes, he refused to give his daughter to her mother or LAPD.

The mother’s family told FOX 11 they are afraid.

“I am very worried about my granddaughter, very stressed out.”

The mother said the father won’t let her see her kid, and only sends her cellphone videos that show her playing.

What’s next:

FOX 11 contacted the LAPD to find out why they didn’t take the child, having a temporary custody order.

They have a court date at the end of the month.
