Brittany and Patrick Mahomes aren’t letting a business setback with the WNBA spoil their Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The dynamic duo was spotted by TMZ living large on a mega yacht in Miami, partying with friends — but no Taylor Swift or Travis Kelce in sight, though. Brittany wore a royal blue one-piece bathing suit with chic cutouts along the side. Patrick matched his wife with royal blue swim trunks and a white Louis Vuitton T-shirt. They both sported a “1995” red-and-white baseball cap.

While the trip on the water looked like a blast, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife were nursing their wounds after the WNBA disappointment. Ahead of the holiday, the couple learned that the women’s basketball league was turning down the opportunity to bring an expansion team to their adopted hometown of Kansas City. They are already investors in the Kansas City Current women’s soccer team and know how successful a venture that has been for them.

“You see how Kansas City has embraced all sports that have been in the city, especially women’s sports,” Patrick said at a press conference during Super Bowl week in February. “I’ve seen it firsthand with the Kansas City Current. I know if we were able to get a WNBA team to Kansas City, it would be packed every single night. I’m hoping we can get that done, and we can continue to push women’s sports forward. That’s just the kind of atmosphere that we have in Kansas City.”
Brittany and Patrick’s bid didn’t seem to woo the WNBA after their pitch in October 2024, and Kansas City apparently wasn’t on the league’s radar even ahead of the June decision.
“The WNBA is preparing to award Cleveland its 16th franchise,” a source told the Sports Business Journal in February. “The WNBA has rethought its original plan of adding just one team and could award one or two more franchises to bring its league total to 18 clubs. The presumed leaders for the second and third teams are Philadelphia, Houston, Nashville, Detroit, and Miami.” The WNBA officially announced on June 30 that Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia were their 2028, 2029, and 2030 picks, respectively — Kansas City was never in the mix.
So, instead of moping about not sinking a basket with the WNBA, Brittany and Patrick let off some steam over the Fourth of July weekend as they cruised along the coastline.
