The Soapbox, the West Philadelphia-based community print-making studio and zine library, is moving from 47th and Kingsessing to a new space on the 4500 block of Baltimore Avenue, according to a recent announcement on social media.

To support the relocation, which is expected to take place in the spring, the non-profit arts organization has launched a fundraising campaign. As part of this campaign, community members are invited to stop by Knockbox Cafe (45th and Pine) now through the end of the month to check out a fundraising art show by Soapbox artists.

The exhibition, titled “Coming Soon to Baltimore Ave,” features works by nine Soapbox member artists: Anna L. Mueser, Ava Haitz, Cameron Orr, Dre Grigoropol, Emma Mohrmann, Jacques-Jean Tiziou, Jodi Bosin, Laura Walczak, and Tom Parsons. All of the works in this show have been created at the studio, in such media as screenprint, relief, letterpress, and risograph. The art show is a celebration of the vibrant community of artists who work in the shared studio space and is also a preview of “what is coming soon to the 4500 block of Baltimore Ave.”

The fundraising campaign also includes an online sale of prints and calendars created at the studio. The sale is open through Dec. 30.

The Soapbox has been operating since 2011 and its zine library now has over 3,000 unique handmade publications. The space at 47th and Kingsessing currently remains open for the community while the staff, volunteers and artists prepare for the move. For more details and updates, visit: www.phillysoapbox.org.
