LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) — With just a few weeks until he takes the reigns, Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is continuing to build out his team.
Mamdani would not say which specific appointments were discussed on Friday, but it has been almost a month since he has announced an appointment to his administration.
He says that is partly why the elected advisory committee met at District Council 37 headquarters in Lower Manhattan.
Among those on the committee and in the room on Friday were State Attorney General Letitia James and City Comptroller Brad Lander – all elected officials who endorsed or supported Mamdani.
Afterwards, Mamdani spoke briefly with reporters and touted his effort to listen to different points of view as he builds his administration.
He was then asked why he would only include supporters.
“This is just one part of the work that we are doing with elected officials across this city. It is by no means exhaustive. Today was a bringing together of those that helped us build this coalition from the very beginning,” said Mamdani.

Notably absent today and apparently not on this advisory committee is former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who not only endorsed the Mayor-elect but is someone Mamdani has said he considers is the best mayor of his lifetime.
