Underwood Jewelers in Ponte Vedra Beach is getting into the holiday spirit by making the season a bit more magical for a family in need, thanks to the Salvation Army.

For close to a decade now, Underwood Jewelers’ staff members have gathered donations internally for the Salvation Army, presenting a check during the holiday season with money that will go toward decorations, gifts and whatever else is on a family’s wish list.

This year, the jewelry shop raised $1,425. An amount higher than they’ve raised in previous years.

“It is a small act of kindness that, with any luck, will bring joy and peace for a family that needs that more than anything,” said Phyllis Convery from Underwood’s.

The Salvation Army helps put new clothes and toys under the tree for one million children across the United States who usually have to go without Christmas gifts. Keeping with its theme of staying in touch with the local community, Underwood Jewelers takes pride in providing donations whenever it can and hopes to continue doing so for many years to come.

“We hope to inspire other businesses, groups, families and individuals in our community to give back to the community and spread holiday cheer in any way possible,” said Convery. “After all, we all deserve a reason to smile this season.”
