Lincoln County health officials held a community meeting Saturday morning to provide an update on ongoing flooding impacts and to outline preparations ahead of additional rainfall expected next week.

During the briefing, officials announced that the Red Cross shelter previously located in Libby has been relocated to the Memorial Center on Lincoln Boulevard.

Residents in need of shelter or assistance can now access services at the new site.

Officials also urged community members who are concerned about flooding around their homes or property to take protective measures as soon as possible.

“If you have any concerns about potential impact of flooding, now is the time to sandbag,” one official said. “Get the sandbags out there, get the diversions out there, try to protect your properties now before we start getting this new rain event.”

Officials noted they are preparing for potential flooding once the upcoming rain arrives.

They are also documenting every part of their disaster-response efforts in order to qualify for FEMA reimbursement.
