Officials have identified a man who was later found dead after he was accused of fatally shooting two people in Far North Dallas on Thursday.

Jonathan Lakill Mantoy Jones, 44, was found shot in the 1000 block of Craig Drive in Mesquite on Thursday, around 5:13 p.m., according to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office and Dallas police. Jones’ death was deemed a suicide by the medical examiner’s office.

Only a few hours before his death, Jones was accused by police of shooting and killing two people in the 15800 block of El Estado Drive around 2:40 p.m..

When officers arrived at the location, they found 24-year-old Arlina Sanders and 27-year-old Darvilease Washington. Police said Washington was taken to a local hospital, where he died. Sanders died at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives were able to find information on a possible suspect and a suspect vehicle registered in Mesquite.

While preparing the arrest warrant, police said detectives were notified by Mesquite police about a shooting in their city.

Officers found Jones at the location and the suspect vehicle in the driveway.
