President Trump reacted to the deaths of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner in a Truth Social post in which he blamed their killings on Reiner’s political opposition to him.

Trump, without evidence, stated that their deaths were “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights,” the president wrote before adding: “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Reiner was one of Trump’s most outspoken critics in Hollywood, and in 2024 hosted a fundraiser for Trump’s opponent, former Vice President Kamala Harris, at his Brentwood home.

Nick Reiner, the couple’s 32-year-old son, was taken into custody and is being held in connection with their deaths. Police have not announced a motive.

Trump’s post was met with immediate backlash from a few members of Congress — and even some of his own Truth Social followers.

“This is a family tragedy,” outgoing GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia wrote on X, “not about politics or political enemies.”

“Regardless of how you felt about Rob Reiner, this is inappropriate and disrespectful discourse about a man who was just brutally murdered,” Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, wrote on X. “I guess my elected GOP colleagues, the VP, and White House staff will just ignore it because they’re afraid? I challenge anyone to defend it.”

“I respect you so much, but this was heartless and uncalled for,” one of Trump’s followers on Truth Social replied to his post.

“You could have just said RIP,” wrote another.
