PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — December is usually a cold month, but Philadelphia residents are still adjusting to the below-average temperatures after the first snowstorm of the season ushered in bitter cold.
“You’ve got to dress for the occasion. Long John’s, gloves, a thermal suit, and stay active,” said a pedestrian in University City.
Someone was out in shorts in 20-degree weather Tuesday morning, but for the most part, people in University City are prepared for the cold.
Families, students, and working professionals all tried to stay warm.
“I’m bundled up, heading to work now,” said Samantha Farabella. “My gloves are insulated, actually, so they’re pretty warm inside, keeping me warm.”
“I’m wearing lots of layers. Very good coat and very soft ear muffs, that’s how I do it,” said Rana Hogarth.
It’s still a bit icy, but sidewalks are in better shape after the snowstorm a couple of days ago and the icy conditions on Monday.
Winter doesn’t officially start until Sunday, but it feels like it arrived a week early.
“If you’re a person that feels cold easily, you have to wear the thermal,” said Al Azhar Al-Salmi. “I get cold very easily, so I wear the thermal, a hoodie, and a puffer jacket.”
AccuWeather says warmer temperatures are on the way later this week.
