PHOTOS: Two people were hurt including a firefighter after a multi-story apartment building in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood caught fire early Tuesday morning, with fire trucks blocking streets as crews worked to battle the blaze. Photos and video from the scene, at 4909 N. Glenwood Ave., showed heavy flames pouring out of the building’s windows as fire alarms sound in the background.
The fire could be seen burning across stairwells, with multiple floors covered in flames. According to the Chicago Police Department, officers responded to a call of a fire at the apartment complex at about 1:11 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found the Chicago Fire Department on the scene attempting to extinguish the fire as plumes of smoke billowed into the sky. Chicago police said they said multiple displaced people outside, including six adults and one child.
