It’s been over a month since the Season 3 patch for Street Fighter 6 was made live. This update brought about some significant changes to the game, including adjustments to the Perfect Parry mechanic.
Broski recently released a new video that provides an overview of the Season 3 meta thus far. While many would argue that not enough has changed going from Season 2 to Season 3, there were a few adjustments that had an impact.
During the first two seasons of Street Fighter 6, many professional players were of the belief that the Perfect Parry was a little too effective at what it could do (and with very little risk). So overall, it felt like a good thing when it was revealed that the Perfect Parry was getting a nerf to its functionality.
However, many believed that this should’ve also come packaged with a nerf to offense in Street Fighter 6. Now some players feel like we’re in a situation in which defense has been nerfed but offense is just as strong as it was before.
For better or worse, throw loops are still a big part of the gameplay for Street Fighter 6. As it turns out, the Drive Gauge reward for defensive throw techs has not done much to curb this interaction.
In terms of character balance, Broski notes that there isn’t a major gap between the game’s strongest characters and the weakest. Having said that, Broski feels that Ryu and Mai have very skewed risk vs. reward game plans that seemingly go against the feel of the rest of the cast.
