Weather conditions are changing, and changing fast this week in North Texas.

Monday started as the coldest day of the season so far, with a low of 28 degrees that morning, but the chill didn’t last long. Afternoon highs were in the low- to mid-60s with consistent cloud cover Tuesday and Wednesday, as overnight lows also rose.

Thursday’s forecast high of 67 is only a few degrees warmer than previous days, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, but should be accompanied by a welcome return of sunny skies. Wind gusts up to 29 miles per hour are possible in the middle of the day.

Temperatures should drop overnight on Thursday as a cold front moves in, with the low expected to reach 38 degrees at 6 a.m. Friday morning. That overnight chill is a notable shift from other days this week, but it isn’t expected to last long. The weather service is predicting lows back up in the 50s by the early hours of Saturday.
