A small plane crashed in a building at Van Nuys Airport after it was stolen from a flight school, NBC4 Investigates has learned.
A trespassing suspect broke into the school at about 4 a.m. at the general aviation airport in the west San Fernando Valley and took the single-engine Cessna, Los Angeles Airport Police said. One person was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of aircraft.
It was not immediately clear whether authorities were searching for anyone else in connection with the crash.
Video showed the plane crashed nose-first into a building at the airport, leaving a hole in the side of the hangar. Authorities said the plane did not get off the ground.
The FBI and LAX police responded to the airport.
