A 33-year-old man was killed early Friday in a shooting outside an Arlington bar, police officials say.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire about 1:50 a.m. at a bar in the 1000 block of northeast Green Oaks Boulevard. There, they found a 33-year-old man lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Sgt. Richard Coleman, an Arlington police spokesman.

The man, who was not publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told investigators the shooter was inside a vehicle in the bar’s parking lot, and that the gunfire was the escalation of a “verbal argument,” Coleman said.

The tip led to the arrest of 31-year-old Daniel Munoz, who, according to Coleman, told police he acted in self-defense.

In addition to finding a gun in the backseat of Munoz’s vehicle, Coleman said a woman, 32-year-old Karina Fuentes, was also inside.

Munoz and Fuentes were both booked Friday into the Arlington City Jail, online records show. Munoz faces a murder charge, while Fuentes faces a charge of interference with public duties.

Coleman said Fuentes’ arrest was related to “her actions while officers attempted to detain Mr. Munoz.”
