NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — In his first TV interview since New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani named Sherif Soliman as the next budget director, Soliman responded to comments from outgoing Mayor Eric Adams, saying he’s leaving the “next administration with a sound foundation.”
“There is a gap to close. We are clear about the challenges,” Soliman told PIX11’s Dan Mannarino. When asked about how to close that gap, Soliman said there are conversations about raising taxes to achieve the affordability agenda.
Soliman brings experience from his current role as senior vice chancellor for budget and finance and chief financial officer at the City University of New York. He’s also worked in Bill de Blasio and Eric Adams’ administrations.
