Westchase Apartments resident realizes he’s been shot while sitting inside home: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found shot late Sunday night inside his apartment in the Jacksonville Heights area of the city’s Westside, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the Westchase Apartments on 103rd Street about a block west of Ricker Road just before 11 p.m.

They found a man in his mid-30s inside his apartment with a gunshot wound to his upper left chest. Police said his injury was not considered life-threatening, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The man told police he’d heard gunshots and then realized he’d been hit. He could not identify the shooter.

Police found multiple groups of shell casings around the apartment complex.
