A 35-year-old detention officer died last Sunday in an off-duty motorcycle crash, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Dakendrick Traylor’s obituary.
The sheriff’s office did not immediately respond Saturday to questions about the details of the crash.
Traylor was a member of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard, according to a statement from the department, and was assigned to the Special Hospital Observation Team.

“Dakendrick’s vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to his family and community will be remembered and missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” his obituary states. “His legacy of happiness and care will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.”
His funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Gate Baptist Church, according to his obituary.
“Traylor will be missed by his sheriff’s office family,” states a statement from the department.
