The serious crash happened just after midnight on Monday near El Mirage Road and Glendale Avenue. The suspect driver was fleeing deputies, according to MCSO.

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A person has been detained, and another has been seriously hurt after a crash into a light police in Glendale early Monday morning, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Just after midnight on Dec. 22, MCSO attempted to stop a vehicle with a “fictitious” license plate at an unknown location.

Deputies said the car did not stop and drove off with no headlights on.

MCSO said they decided not to pursue the car; however, several minutes later, they found the vehicle had crashed into a light pole at El Mirage Road and Glendale Avenue.

The driver was detained, and the passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to officials.
