White Rhino Coffee, the Dallas-born specialty coffee shop with locations in Fort Worth and Arlington, recently acquired Emporium Pies, another Dallas-bred snack spot with a store in Fort Worth. The deal brings together two majority women-owned businesses that share a similar ethos of quality and local roots. Emporium’s founding sisters — Landon Perdue, Jen Abohosh, and Addie Roberts — say in a release the handoff felt natural, thanks to aligned values and a shared commitment to doing things the right way. Continues the release, the bakery team, along with Roberts, will stay on board, ensuring the pies remain of high quality. “Emporium Pies will remain the same incredible pie shop customers know and love,” White Rhino CEO Chris Escamilla says in the release. While operations won’t change immediately, White Rhino is looking at expanding Emporium’s footprint and rolling out pie-and-coffee collabs in the future. whiterhinocoffee.com

Eastside soul food spot Chef’s Corner, one of the best new restaurants to open in Fort Worth in 2025, has introduced several new dishes for winter. Exec chef Mike Douresseaux recently rolled out some magnificent lamb chops, a collard greens spinach dip, an apple, broccoli and almond slaw that has to be eaten to be believed, and a whole slew of barbecued meats. He’s also added a new brunch menu with items like eggs and fried dirty rice. Tricked out with crab legs bigger than the bowl they’re served in, Mike D.’s gumbo is still the best in the city. 1201 Oakland Blvd., chefscornerftworth.com

New to open in Fort Worth pizza chain Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza has decided we haven’t eaten enough this season, so they’ve teamed up with Terry Black’s BBQ to unleash the Terry Black’s Brisket Pizza. It’s available at Mister O1’s Fort Worth locations in Alliance and West 7th through Feb. 28. The pie is stacked with Terry Black’s brisket, tomato sauce, mozzarella, red onions, jalapeños, dill pickles, spicy BBQ sauce, and cilantro.  mistero1.com

New York-inspired/Trophy Club-bred Dan’s Bagels has opened its first location in Fort Worth at 2430 Forest Park Blvd. It’s a franchise owned by Luis and Mona Lisa Galicia (if that’s not the best name in the world, I don’t know what is), an Arlington couple whose TCU-attending daughter helped steer them toward setting up shop near campus. As a further homage to their daughter, the couple does a blueberry pie bagel in TCU purple. The brand began in Trophy Club in 2020, when founders Dan and Jen Hilbert started baking triple-fermented sourdough bagels from home after missing the classic New York breakfast food of their East Coast youth; demand pushed them to open their first storefront in 2021. In addition to the Fort Worth and Trophy Club locations, there’s a Dan’s Bagels in Grapevine and a new one will soon rise in Argyle. dansbagels.com
