Traditions during the holiday season run the glittery gamut, with friends sharing the same meals each December, and retelling the same sweet stories, and gifts for various family members keeping to a general theme.

You could also say that a certain spectacular, a show that flowers at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion each and every Dec. 24, also has some traditional flair at heart: Dance, music, joy, and community are always at the glowing heart of the feel-good happening.

It’s the LA County Holiday Celebration, a colossal cultural gift to all Southern Californians.

The event “showcases the artistry and multicultural spirit of Los Angeles,” with advance tickets booking up weeks ahead of time.

There is, however, a stand-by option, and the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon show on PBS SoCal, where it will be both broadcast and streamed.

In 2025, the three-hour show will highlight a bevy of acclaimed returning performers: Andre Cruz and Chris Lujan will bring the soul + funk sounds, Mostly Kosher will break out the cool klezmers, and Le Ballet Dembaya will feature West African drumming and beautiful dance.

Some of the new artists set to appear this time around include the Ponpon Chen Jazz Quartet and the Bonita High School Chamber Singers.

The atmosphere is convivial, diverse, dazzling, and ultra-special; for several longtime fans, this is the spot to get a bit dressy and dive into the dazzle of the season, all while making it home in time for dinner.
