The body of a kayaker who went missing at Marine Creek Lake has been identified as a 24-year-old man.
Juan Silvestre Salgado was pronounced dead after he was found Wednesday by the Tarrant Regional Water District, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. He died from drowning, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The search for Salgado started on Dec. 15, according to Fort Worth police. He was last heard from around 10 a.m. when he announced he was going fishing and kayaking in the area of the lake, police said.
Around 8 p.m., police said they received a missing person report from family and friends who were unable to locate him.

Family members said that after several hours without being able to contact him, they pinged his location, which was near the 4700 block of TCC Lakeside Drive, according to police.
Firefighters, search crews and other agencies searched the lake for Salgado. Police said officers found the man’s vehicle parked near a boat ramp at the location, while the department’s helicopter also found an empty kayak on the east side of the lake.
The search for Salgado continued for two days until his body was recovered Wednesday evening.
