Clayton Youth Enrichment has named Kevin Hood as its director of programs, adding a seasoned public-school leader to its executive team as the organization continues to expand its reach across Tarrant County.
Dr. Hood brings more than 25 years of experience in public education, including extensive service in campus and district administration. Most recently, he served as assistant superintendent of elementary administration for the Keller school district, where he provided leadership for 23 elementary schools and oversaw districtwide initiatives such as the Leadership Development Academy and The Big Event.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Hood has held a range of leadership roles, including principal, executive director, and area superintendent. His professional background includes deep experience in professional development, organizational improvement, and building collaborative partnerships designed to advance student success. He earned his Doctor of Education from Dallas Baptist University, where his research focused on the effects of behavior support initiatives in elementary schools.
“Dr. Hood has collaborated with Clayton Youth Enrichment for more than a decade through his work in Keller ISD,” said Jason Ray, CEO of Clayton Youth Enrichment, in a statement. “His extensive knowledge of public education and dedication to supporting students will play a vital role in advancing Clayton’s mission of providing high-quality youth enrichment programs across Tarrant County.”
In his new role, Dr. Hood will lead Clayton’s programmatic efforts, drawing on his experience in school systems and student-centered initiatives to strengthen and expand the organization’s offerings. Clayton Youth Enrichment provides out-of-school-time programs focused on supporting children’s academic, social, and emotional development, partnering with schools and communities throughout the region.
As Dr. Hood steps into the position, Clayton Youth Enrichment said it is eager to build on his strengths and long-standing connection to the organization. His leadership is expected to support ongoing efforts to deliver programs that help children grow, learn, and thrive.
Clayton Youth Enrichment continues to serve families across Tarrant County through a variety of enrichment programs designed to complement the school day and provide students with safe, supportive environments beyond the classroom.
The organization traces its roots to after-school programs launched to serve Lily B. Clayton Elementary School students, who needed a safe, structured place to learn and grow once the school day ended. From the beginning, Clayton focused on academic reinforcement, enrichment activities, and character development — providing families with peace of mind while giving students additional opportunities to succeed.
What set Clayton apart early on was its close partnership with public schools. By embedding programs directly on school campuses, Clayton was able to align its work with classroom instruction while also addressing students’ social and emotional needs. That school-based model helped the organization grow steadily, expanding from a small number of sites into a broader network serving multiple districts across Tarrant County.
