CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was shot and seriously injured Tuesday morning during an armed robbery at a Southwest Side bank, Chicago fire officials said.

CFD said the incident took place about 10 a.m. at a Chase Bank in the 4300-block of South Archer Avenue in Brighton Park.

The man is an armored truck security guard, CFD said.

Chicago police said a male suspect approached him while he was standing outside the bank and pulled out a gun.

Chicago fire officials said the man was shot in both legs, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

No one else was injured.

The suspect drove away in a silver vehicle, heading south on Troy Street, then east on 44th Street.

No one is in custody.

Area One detectives are investigating.
