Carlos Alcaraz’s pursuit of a three-peat at Wimbledon is still very much alive, after he advanced to the quarter-finals at the All England Club.
Alcaraz defeated Andrey Rublev in four sets, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to make the last eight in SW19 for the third consecutive year.
The Spaniard extended his winning streak to 22 matches and became the youngest player in the Open Era to reach 12 men’s singles quarter-finals at Grand Slam events.
Meanwhile, his rival Jannik Sinner also continues to impress at Wimbledon, with the world number one tearing through his half of the draw.
Sinner and Alcaraz remain the favourites at the tournament, but Nick Kyrgios thinks the Italian has something in his game that will give him the edge, should the two meet in the final.

On the Talksport breakfast show, Kyrgios said: “The scary thing is, Alcaraz, Djokovic, Sinner, they don’t really have weaknesses.
“There’s a scouting report of maybe what to do to increase your chances to win but there’s no real weakness, there’s no real hole.
“That’s what’s incredible about these two young guys, these guys are literally kids, and they already have a game that’s got no real weakness.

“You could arguably say that Alcaraz’s weakness is that he has too many options and he might lose a bit of focus.
“But with Sinner, he doesn’t really have any holes at all. He’s head down, moves incredibly, hits so big.
“It’s the business end of the tournament, so these guys are going to be locked in, so it’s literally about who is going to play better on the day, there’s no real weakness at all.
The one and only time Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner met on grass
Alcaraz leads the head-to-head against Sinner 8-4, with his most recent triumph coming in the Roland Garros final.
His victory in Paris marked the fifth consecutive time he has beaten the three-time Grand Slam champion.
The two have only had one meeting on grass, however, which came in the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2022.
That day, it was Sinner who came out on top, beating Alcaraz in four sets to advance to the quarter-finals in South West London.
