In a heartwarming incident, a baby elephant was reunited with its mother with the help of forest officials at Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Shared by retired Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda, the video captures the emotional scene as the calf runs up to a forest department vehicle, asking for help.
The now-viral video begins with the baby elephant, frightened and confused, circling the vehicle frantically, sniffing and pacing, desperate to find its mother. Further, the forest team carefully guides the little elephant toward the area where its mother had last been seen. To ensure the mother recognised her calf and accepted it, one of the officials gently rubbed some of the mother elephant’s dung onto the baby’s trunk and legs.
Before setting off, the calf lets out a soft trumpet, as if to say thank you. As he begins walking back into the forest, one officer encourages him by saying, “Haan, jaa. Jaa, jaa, jaa (Go ahead).” The video ends with the baby elephant walking beside its mother.

The video quickly drew attention as it touched thousands of hearts on social media. “What a lovely video. Kaziranga is beautiful beyond words. It must be maintained that way, with less human settlement and comercialization nearby,” a user wrote. “Ole baba, so damn cute he is. I was supremely lucky to have grown up near Kaziranga. Had a black panther in our lawn( tea estate,Lokhojan) for days. Those days were special. Thank you God,for placing me in the lap of nature, albeit temporarily. Lots of Elephants in Numaligarh too,” another user commented.
“Oh this is such a beautiful story. Thank you,” a third user reacted.
