OPINION — Some things to consider about the proposal to rename Loop 202 for Charlie Kirk:

1. Lack of broad public consensus as to Kirk’s effects, motives and provenance

2. Not an Arizona native or long‑term contributor

3. Does not fit traditional categories for highway honorees

4. Major logistical and financial disruption

5. Explicitly political nature of the proposal — Kirk was a political operative

6. Less disruptive alternative naming options already exist —already a move to rename a street near Turning Point USA headquarters.
