FORT WORTH – Awards were twofold for Olivia Miles following a week in which she notched a record-setting third consecutive triple-double and set a season high in points scored.
Ahead of the Christmas holiday, Miles was named the Ann Meyers-Drysdale National Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). She was also selected as Big 12 Player of the Week following a vote of the league’s media members.
Miles averaged 27 points, nine rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game across No. 8 TCU’s home wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Kansas State. The graduate guard posted a 25-point, 11-assist and 10-rebound triple-double vs. the Lady Lions on Dec. 16. Miles paired a season-high 29 points with eight rebounds, four assists and two steals against the Wildcats four days later.
A product of Phillipsburg, N.J., Miles was tabbed National Player of the Week by the USBWA for the third time in her career. She is the fourth Horned Frog to earn the accolade in the last two seasons. Hailey Van Lith, Madison Conner and Sedona Prince all received the recognition at least once during the 2024-25 campaign.
Miles joined Iowa State’s Audi Crooks as one of two repeat Big 12 Player of the Week winners this season. The Horned Frogs and 10th-ranked Cyclones account for six of the league’s seven weekly player of the week honors.
The triple-double vs. UAPB was the leading story in college basketball to begin the week.
Miles became only the third Division I women’s basketball to post a triple-double in three straight games. She now ranks third in NCAA history for career triple-doubles with nine. The only players with more are Sabrina Ionescu (23) and Caitlin Clark (17). Just 13 games into the 2025-26 season, Miles has already tied Baylor’s Brittney Griner and Shalee Lehning of Kansas State for the most triple-doubles in a season by a Big 12 player.
Combined with Marta Suarez, Miles helped TCU become the first team in NCAA history to have two teammates post 20-point triple-doubles in the same game against the Lady Lions. The duo’s exploits made TCU the first NBA, WNBA or Division I men’s or women’s team with four triple-doubles in a three-game span in four seasons. The last team to achieve the feat was the Los Angeles Lakers from Dec. 28-31, 2021, when LeBron James and Russell Westbrook combined for four triple-doubles.
Miles quickly allayed any thoughts of an upset in the Horned Frogs’ 77-55 takedown of the Wildcats. She tallied 15 of her points in the first half, including nine in the opening frame, to pace TCU to a 13-point halftime lead. Miles then accounted for 10 of TCU’s 20 third quarter points as the Frogs took a 59-37 lead into the final frame.
She came one basket shy of surpassing her previous career highs for points scored and field goals. Miles finished with an 11-18 clip from the field. Combined with her performance vs. UAPB, Miles recorded two of her four career 25-point games in the pair of victories.
Miles is averaging 18.9 points, 7.6 assists 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 53 percent from the field through 13 contests as a Horned Frog. She is averaging career highs in points, assists and steals. Miles leads the Big 12 and ranks fifth nationally in total assists (99). She continues to be the only player nationwide averaging at least 25 points, seven rebounds and seven assists per game.
TCU has now garnered Big 12 Player of the Week accolades on 20 occasions across its 14 years of conference membership. The Horned Frogs have claimed the crown 12 times in the last three seasons under head coach Mark Campbell.
Miles and TCU (13-0) return to the court over the New Year’s holiday as the Horned Frogs embark on a two-game road trip to face BYU and Utah on Dec. 31 and Jan. 3.
