Roshan is set to entertain audiences with his upcoming film Champion. National Award winner Pradeep Advaitham helmed this flick, and Mollywood actress Anaswara Rajan is making her Tollywood debut with this flick. Priyanka Dutt, GK Mohan, and Gemini Kiran produced Champion under the banners of Swapna Cinema, Anandi Art Creations, and Concept Films, with Zee Studios presenting it. The movie is set to hit the big screens this Christmas, and ahead of the release, Pradeep Advaitham interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.
As a director, what elements of this film did you find most challenging?
When you have massive support from producers, there isn’t much that feels challenging. Madhi garu, Mickey J Mayer, Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao garu—I have such an amazing team by my side. Makers had a lot of faith in us. The real challenge was living up to that trust.
How hard did Roshan work for this film?
He is a very sincere actor. He has a hardworking nature deep within him. His maturity is shocking, and it really surprises you. Once he listens to the story and likes it, he doesn’t overthink. Watching him work is truly inspiring.
Several films have already been made based on the Telangana armed struggle. How is this film going to stand out?
We tried to present a historical event in a cinematically interesting way. If viewers watch the film and understand how things actually happened, we’ll feel that our effort was successful. There are so many stories about our land that we don’t know. Discovering our roots is always fascinating. We tried to tell that origin story through this film.
How will audiences feel while watching the movie?
While watching the film, viewers will feel like they are spending time with those people, walking with them, fighting with them, and in the end, even empathizing with them. The characters will remain in the hearts for a long time.
What did you learn as a director from Champion?
Honestly, this is my first film after a long gap. They say that if your determination is strong, everything falls into place. I feel that truly happened in my case with Champion. Making a film under the Vyjayanthi and Swapna Cinemas banner, having them trust the story, and provide the budget, it’s been a very joyful experience.
