A man was shot and killed on a Metro bus near Exposition Park on Christmas Eve, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:58 p.m. near Normandie and 39th Street.
Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound inside the bus. The victim was transported to a hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
“This afternoon, an altercation among a group of young men started on the street near a bus stop and spilled into a bus on line 206, which was headed northbound at Normandie and 39th Street in South Los Angeles,” wrote Metro in a statement to NBC4. “As the altercation continued on the bus, a member of the group shot and fatally injured another member of the group. The suspects fled before police arrived.”
The gunman is still at large, according to the LAPD. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact the LAPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
