Jacksonville Jaguars HC Liam Coen talks Pro Bowl snub, motivation
The Jacksonville Jaguars are celebrating Christmas knowing they’re headed to the playoffs. Liam Coen was asked about the team’s Pro Bowl snubs.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be dealing with a slew of injuries this week, particularly in the secondary after their 34-20 victory over the Denver Broncos last weekend.
Set to face the Indianapolis Colts for a second time in four weeks, Jacksonville saw cornerbacks Jourdan Lewis, Montaric Brown and Greg Newsome II all go down due to injuries as the contest wound down.
The team also had to make a quick switch at center and guard, with Robert Hainsey and Patrick Mekari banged up. To replace them, the Jaguars utilized rookie Jonah Monheim and veteran lineman Walker Little. It was Little’s first time playing right guard this season. He primarily played left tackle as the team’s starter before being benched for Cole Van Lanen recently.
Jacksonville is also still waiting on defensive end Danny Striggow to return to practice after sustaining an ankle injury a couple of weeks ago.
Lewis, Newsome, Hainsey, Mekari and Striggow were not seen during the media availability portion of practice on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24.
Brown was at practice with a non-contact jersey and rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten returned, sporting the same non-contact jersey. Tuten missed last week’s game after undergoing surgery to repair a broken finger.
Here are today’s injury updates ahead of Week 17 vs. the Colts.
