CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago police are searching for a driver that left two people injured on the city’s South Side.

The crash happened at about 11:25 p.m. on Thursday in the 900-block of W. 79th Street, police said.

The driver of a gray car allegedly ran a red light and crashed into a white SUV, police said.

The impact caused the SUV to careen into an abandoned building, police said.

Two women in the SUV were taken to University of Chicago Hospital; both are expected to be OK.

The driver of the gray sedan ran off before officers arrived, Chicago police said.

The City of Chicago Building Inspector was notified about the crash.
