Metra service on a busy suburban Chicago line was stopped Friday morning due to a vehicle on the tracks, with ‘extensive delays’ expected

The halted trains were on the Metra MD-North line, which runs from Fox Lake through a number of Lake County suburbs, along with Glenview, Northbrook, Gold, Morton Grove and Forest Glen before reaching Union Station. According to Metra, the delays were due to a vehicle on the tracks near Ingleside.

“Delay times are unknown but extensive delays are anticipated,” Metra said in a post on X. “Passengers may consider Union Pacific North or North Central Service lines as alternates.”

The delays come along with a number of other interruptions on Metra Friday morning, including on the UP-Northwest line MD-West line and UP-North, the Metra website showed. Those delays were either due to “operational incidents” or “manpower issues,” Metra said.

Metra riders were encouraged to visit the website for schedule changes and updated information.
