A Dallas city initiative offers neighborhood volunteers with free access to gardening and cleanup tools in an effort to support community beautification projects.
The Community Hand Tool Program, offered by the Department of Code Compliance, makes landscaping equipment available at no cost to qualified neighborhood groups and nonprofit organizations.

The program is designed to help residents maintain green spaces, manage vegetation and remove litter during weekend cleanup efforts or other local beautification events.
Breaking News
Volunteer groups that qualify for the program can borrow a range of tools — including lawnmowers, string trimmers, hedgers, pole saws, rakes, brooms and shovels — on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment is loaned for planned projects in all areas of the city.
Requirements
To participate, groups must be recognized nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations or other community-based organizations, and they must submit requests at least two weeks before their planned use of equipment.
Volunteers are also required to complete an equipment loaner agreement and attend a safety and training presentation before taking tools home.
Keep Dallas Beautiful is an initiative that is part of broader efforts by the Code Compliance Department to engage residents and local groups in maintaining neighborhood standards and improve the quality of life throughout Dallas.
