A federal court has backed Oregon’s efforts to keep a closer eye on major health care business deals, rejecting a legal challenge brought by the state’s hospital lobby group.
In a decision issued Thursday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a lower court’s ruling, finding that a state law that gives the Oregon Health Authority the power to review — and even block — hospital mergers and other major health care transactions is not unconstitutionally vague.
