The suspects were unable to actually steal the vehicle due to modifications made to it for one of the victims’ fathers.

SAN ANTONIO — Four suspects attempted to steal a vehicle early Saturday morning after forcing two men who were inside out, police say.

Officers were called to the intersection of Dolorosa and South Flores around 12:46 a.m. for an assault in progress.

When they arrived, officers spoke to two men aged 41 and 49. The men said that they were driving downtown, playing music with their windows down.

That’s when four suspects, all estimated to be in their 20s by police, approached the vehicle. Police say one of the suspects started to talk to the driver of the vehicle while two of the suspects opened the passenger side door and pulled the passenger out, physically assaulting him.

The driver was also pulled out of the vehicle and was allegedly assaulted.

While the victims were being assaulted, one of the suspects got into the driver’s seat and tried to put the vehicle in gear. However, he was unable to due to modifications made to the vehicle for the victim’s father.

The suspects fled on foot but were detained by cover officers a few blocks away.

One suspect was seen getting into a silver vehicle and fled the location.

It’s unclear what charges these suspects face.

The victims had minor non-life-threatening injuries.
